Introduction for Maidaiko Aska-Gumi
Maidaiko Ask-Gumi is a Taiko musical troupe formed in 1990 by Diagoro Aska
Powerful Taiko, Shinobue, and Shakuhachi accompany the art of graceful Kabuki dance and Kanji and blend modern electronic music to appear brand-new creations continuously.
Aska-gumi energetic performance and luxuriant stage is well known all over the world and has performed in France, Netherlands, Egypt, Turkey, Taiwan, Russia, Hawaii, Siapan, and Los Angelas. Also, Aska-gumi has released the video of “Maidaiko Aska-gumi” and four CD albums. They performs over the hundred times per year worldwide.
Chief of Aska-gumi – Diagoro Aska 1Diagoro started to learn Japanese dance since 16 years old studied with the leader of “Japanese dance Aska Sect” and was independent after 12 years of his student lives. He focused on Taiko performance in 1974 and established Maidaiko Aska-gumi in 1990 and started the performances worldwide.
Besides, he trained Taiko troupe in Japan and created Taiko music with more than 1200 students.
Diagoro has been awarded with “Kansai Art Festival Award” and “International News Service Award”, and has written the book of “Recommendation of Japanese Taiko”.
